How do I relieve my red eyes?

My eyes are usually red around this time of year. Only the part of my eyes that are exposed to the outside are red but nothing under the eyelids. My eyes aren't itchy or irritated. I try eye drops but it does hardly anything and is only temporary. Should I use an antihistamine? I don't really have time to go to the doctor, please answer!
