I got treated for allergic hives, but something isn't right. Please read! What are your opinions?
Tuesday evening I got bad allergic hives on my body because of the laundry detergent my mom used to wash clothes. I didn't go to the emergency room till Thursday afternoon, I just rode it out with over the counter Benadryl till that didn't help no longer. The doctor gave me a steriod shot and a Benadryl shot and I felt way better. I even slept great that night! They prescribed me to take Benadryl twice a day for two days and to take Prednisone for 10 days. The next morning I took what I was suppose to and still felt okay except I was getting itchy here and there (Doctor said it was my new clothes doing that to me). Benadryl makes you sleepy so I ended up sleeping 6 more hours in the afternoon haha. So I was up Friday evening into Saturday morning, I slept a couple hours but got up cause my skin was getting annoyingly irritated. I wanted to wait till 9 am to take my meds but before 9am my entire skin got inflamed and felt swollen and would get hot in certain places. It physically didnt look swollen but felt like a nightmare. Even after taking my meds, my skin still felt the same. My tongue or throat wasnt getting swollen or anything but I got SOOO anxious that my throat would tighten due to the anxiety. I got worried so my mom and I went to the emergency room for a 2nd time. The doctor had told me it was my brand new clothes I had bought (because all my other clothes were washed with the detergent I was allergic to) that made my skin that way. I guess the white and red blood cells swell the blood vessels making my skin that way, they are suppose to be flowing through the vessel individually not together? Idk something like that haha. They gave me another shot and 2 pills but GUESS WHAT? It didn't do a damn thing. Maybe because I was still wearing the brand new clothes? They prescribed me a new pill that decreases anxiety and is an antihistamine, it's called Hydroxyzine. When I got home last night and washed, my skin felt the same way it did before I went to the ER. Maybe the body wash I used irritated me? My mom washed clothes last night with Gain DishWashing Liquid, you think that wasn't good enough to get the laundry detergent out of it? IDK! I don't know wtf is going on with me, I have been anxious beyond belief! More than I have ever been. My skin was so annoyingly inflamed and felt puffy and burny that I took a Hydroxyzine at 11pm but that didn't do anything for me or my anxiety. I actually felt more anxious, couldn't sleep, and would have a fast heartbeat. I barely slept 3 hours. I just can't get my mind off this, I keep thinking that this is never going to go away and that something might happen to me. I did have anxiety prior to the allergic hives but I'm usually able to control it to where it doesn't take over my life. It just seems impossible for me to be calm these past two days. I don't know what to do. Can me constantly thinking about this worsen my condition, you think? Does anxiety worsen histamine in the body or does histamine worsen anxiety? I read that adrenaline is the body's way to rid of histamine. Whenever I got to the ER yesterday I felt a sense of big relief and my skin felt somewhat better. Was that my body's adrenaline making me "FEEL" like the medicine they were giving me was working? I just don't know what to DO. I can't be going to the emergency room everyday! What are your suggestions? Should I try washing with a different body wash? Have any of you ever experienced this?
